To be able to set the users avatar, it seems you can delete a users avatar but you cant choose which one they use. Some forums use special avatars for certain members, depending on what their interest are, currently you can reset or add a users signature but the same would be good for the avatar

I would love that Kunena has animated avatars. There are still some problems when you upload GIF images.

I think that the bbcode editor for writing forum posts is way too limiting. There should be an option in Kunena to use the default wysiwyg editor for joomla, or alternatively maybe find a way to incorporate the Joomla JCE plugin into kunena. Right now I can't use stylesheets or enter any custom code other than the few BBcode tags that are available. I can't even embed a flash .swf file which is a big requirement for me. Also the video embed doesn't seem to be working. I tried to embed a youtube video and nothing displayed. All of these errors would be solved if JCE were used as the editor as I could simply copy and paste the embed code in as needed. Also for security reasons the Wysiwyg editor should have the option to be limit use to certain groups just like other joomla components I.E. the public registered users would only get the bbcode editing where as authors, moderators and administrators would get the JCE editor. I would love to see that happen. If that is not possible then at minimum there should be a BBcode administration section where the admin can define new BBcode tags that the user can utilize.

On Youtube, if 5 people click on SPAM, the comment is hidden. I would love a feature allowing users to delete Spam themselves, just by clicking on a button. BUT : there has to be an opposite button, allowing the user to say that a comment is relevant. Otherwise, for political discussion for example, too many posts would be deleted by users disagreeing with them. Finally, the feature would be perfect if it allowed the administrator to set himself how many clicks are necessary to hide a message, and how many "relevant" clicks cancel a "non relevant" click. (for example : 1:1 or 5:1 or 1:5) It has to be configurable in the backend. This feature would allow the administrator to save a lot of time on moderation, would give a lot of freedom to the users. Would seem like a real democratic forum.

In threaded mode, I see the tree of answers and answers to answers, and I see the title of each answer (generally identical to the title of the topic, and not very informative), but I have to click on each post to read it. Is it possible to have a preview of the text of each post on mouseover, or at least a preview of the first xx lines, let us say ten lines, to have a clue of the content of the post ? If the posts are short, this allow me to follow the whole conversation tree from the threaded view. Naturally, "10 lines" should be a parameter.

Hi, Very often the problem is that in a comment when using „quote button” all the history gets quoted, and this takes up a load of space. Would it be possible to create a function with a plus answer button that only the comment of that person would be quoted to whom we are answering? I am hoping for the ability for users to reply to a discussion thread directly from their email. Whenever a new thread is created in particular category (refer to metaltome's first idea), email will be sent to the subscribers and they can reply to that discussion directly using email. This function is similar to phpbb2's mail2forum mod. I need this because most of my users are elderly and they are accustomed to using Yahoo! & Google mailing list. The website that i am working on (my school's alumni site) is meant to divert them into using forum instead of mailing list. Thus having this functionality will greatly help us.

I have just published my first site with Kunena forum, which automatically migrated about a hundred members from a Yahoo group.
This was supposed to be a positive step forward for the group, but within hours, I was being inundated with demands for the email address they should use to post their topic replys to, as hitting the normal reply button on the email notification didn't work.
I had to explain that this new and "Improved" forum didn't have that functionality.

I suspect some are already proposing a revertion to the Yahoo group.

This option is pretty straightforward, when I login to my forum, I want to click a link to see the posts I have not yet read. This rather than having to go through the recent discussions and try to remember which I have seen already or not.
